Recurring Deposit Calculator
Plan your monthly savings growth with quarterly compounding.
A recurring deposit (RD) is the simplest way to build a savings habit - deposit a fixed amount every month, earn guaranteed interest, and receive the full maturity amount at the end of your chosen tenure. Use Cready's RD calculator to instantly see how much your monthly deposit will grow to, how much interest you'll earn, and the exact maturity date - based on the current interest rate and quarterly compounding. No manual formula needed.
RD Formula (Quarterly Compounding)
A = P × { (1 + r/n)^(n×t) }
Each monthly installment compounds for its remaining tenure. P = Monthly deposit, r = Annual rate, n = 4 (quarterly), t = Time in years
Your Calculation
Monthly Deposit = ₹ 5,000
Rate = 7% p.a., Compounding = Quarterly (n=4)
Tenure = 24 months (2 years)
Each installment: A = ₹ 5,000 × (1 + 0.017500)^(4 × t)
Maturity = ₹ 1,29,099
Maturity Amount
₹1,29,099
What is an RD Calculator?
A recurring deposit calculator is a free online tool that estimates the maturity value of a recurring deposit account. Since each monthly instalment compounds for a different period (the first deposit compounds for the full tenure, the last for just one month), calculating RD returns manually requires summing a series - which is complex and error-prone. The calculator does it instantly.
Enter three inputs and get your results:
- Monthly deposit (P) - how much you'll deposit each month (₹100 to ₹1,00,000)
- Interest rate (r) - the annual rate offered by your bank or post office
- Tenure - in years and/or months
The calculator returns:
- Maturity amount - total amount you'll receive at the end of tenure
- Total deposited - sum of all monthly installments
- Interest earned - maturity amount minus total deposited
- Maturity date - the exact calendar date your RD matures
- Year-by-year projection - downloadable breakdown of growth each year
How is RD Maturity Amount Calculated?
RDs use quarterly compounding. Since each monthly installment earns interest for a different number of quarters, the total maturity amount is the sum of the maturity value of each individual instalment:
Where:
- P = Monthly deposit amount (₹)
- r = Annual interest rate (as a decimal)
- n = 4 (compounding frequency - quarterly)
- t = Time remaining for that instalment (in years)
The total maturity amount = Sum of A values for all monthly installments.
Worked Example: ₹5,000/month at 7% p.a. for 2 years (24 months)
- The 1st deposit of ₹5,000 compounds for 24 months (2 years)
- The 2nd deposit compounds for 23 months
- ...the 24th deposit compounds for 1 month
Each month's instalment is calculated separately and summed. The calculator above performs this sum for all 24 installments and shows the result - ₹1,29,099 - instantly.
| Total deposited | ₹5,000 × 24 = ₹1,20,000 |
| Total interest earned | ₹9,099 |
| Maturity amount | ₹1,29,099 |
